About Klaire T. Mundy, PsyD
Biographical Information
Klaire Mundy is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has a private practice in Roanoke, Virginia. She has worked in the Roanoke and surrounding areas since her arrival in Roanoke in August 1998. Dr. Mundy obtained her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at University of West Florida and she completed her Master’s Degree and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Argosy University, Washington DC. Her internship was completed at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina where she specialized in the treatment of combat-related trauma, military sexual trauma, neuropsychological assessment of traumatic brain injury, and substance abuse treatment. Dr. Mundy completed her postdoctoral training at Appalachian Counseling Center where she received specialized training in physical and sexual abuse, along with physical and emotional domestic violence.
Dr. Mundy consults with The Department of Social Services statewide to assist with assessing parental capacity and determining the threat of ongoing violence within families who receive foster care and foster care prevention services. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), in addition to being a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Additionally, she is a Nationally Certified Parenting Coordinator and she is affiliated with the American Psychological Association, the Virginia Psychological Association, and the Association of the Family and Conciliation Courts. She is a board member of the Roanoke Valley Violence Prevention Counsel and the Domestic Violence Fatality Review Committee.
Practice Philosophy
Dr. Mundy incorporates a variety of therapy techniques depending on the treatment needs, goals, and focus of the therapy. She engages in a collaborative approach designed to help her patients with improved goal directed movement physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Dr. Mundy conveys a client-centered approach that assists with creating strategies toward achieving personal aspirations.
